Ever since I watched Titanic I've always been interested about Kate Winslet. A lot of people say Leo is better but that is probably because they think he's cute!!! I'm almost always on the net nowadays trying to find more about Kate, and finally I think I've found somethings to put together into a homepage. Born on October 5 1975, in Reading, England. At the age of 11, Kate attended the Redroofs Theatre School in Maidenhead. Her first appearance was in a 'Sugar Puffs' commercial, dancing with the 'Honey Monster'. She made her television debut in the British television drama 'Shrinks' (1988), followed by apperances in a few other series. At 15, standing 5'6", Kate weighed as much as 185 lb and was nicknamed 'Blubber in high school. When she left Maidenhead, she landed a role on the British television sitcom 'Get Back'. Her big break came in 1994, when she was cast as 'Juliet' in 'Heavenly Creatures'. She was working behind a counter of a delicatessan London when her life changed. "I was making pastrami and dill sandwiches when I received the call telling me I had the role in 'Heavenly Creatures' Kate said. She followed up her debut as 'Princess Sarah' in A Kid in King Arthur's Court' a strange choice. Later the same year she portrayed 'Marianne Dashwood' in Sense and Sensibility', for which she later was nominated for an Academy Award. In 1996, she returned to the silver screen with back-to-back performances as 'Sue Bridehead' in 'Jude' and 'Ophelia' in Kenneth Branagh's 'Hamlet'. On December 20th, shooting finished on her next finished on her next project, 'Hideous Kinky'. Presently, she's Hollywood's 'darling', for her role as 'Rose Dewitt Bukater', abroard the ill-fated 'Titanic'. The film looks set to break a few box office records! | |||||||||||||||||||||||
